  A text book on daily living? Erm, that's the sort of stuff they teach at special schools...also, shouldn't the Bible be the textbook for Christian living? Imagine the JWs saying, ' the few is so loving to provide us with a textbook for everyday life so we don't have to use the wt library so much! Wow, we must be so close to the end!'

  The reality is, they're giving up all capacity to think for themselves. More might wake up, but by narrowing the range of conscious thought, will they be able to? Or will they more so feel that shapeless discontent that leads nowhere?

  A fourteen year-old elder set this sister straight!

  i was supervising a class of 14 year olds and there were a couple of jw kids, a girl and a boy, both of whom want to go to bethel.

  i told the boy i wasn't comfortable with all the changes the gb's been making over the years.

  i mean, i'm the teacher, right?

  In my last couple of years as a single before I met my hubby my best single friend was a brother about 5,years younger than me and it pipped me so much that we couldn't just meet for coffee or see a movie together because of the Jw mindset. And now I'm married, I still consider this younger bro one of my best friends and can chat about anything. But meet with him without one of his family present? Well you know what the gossip would be. I can't even meet with old friends from work for a coffee even tho my husband couldn't care less, but someone would see me and run to the elders...you know the rest.

  There's no real way to meet people except in groups. Groups are fine to a point and at a certain age, but then you grow up.

  What? No. I wasn't preaching anyway; the kid asked me about it because the other JW kid knows I was a JW and brought it up. Also, in Australia, while there is no religion taught in public schools except through the chaplaincy program which is optional, you're free to talk about it in class. Kids often ask about religion. Now if I were trying to convert kids, that would be another matter.

  Still, this mini-elder will no doubt tell his parents what I said, and praise him for standing up for the 'Truth' and maybe encourage him to witness to me if I take his class again. He asked me if I still believe, and I said, "I believe in Jehovah and Jesus with all my heart." I left it at that because I don't believe in the WT but do believe in The Father and my Lord Jesus. That happified him ;)

  I was supervising a class of 14 year olds and there were a couple of JW kids, a girl and a boy, both of whom want to go to Bethel. I told the boy I wasn't comfortable with all the changes the GB's been making over the years. I mean, I'm the teacher, right? Kids usually are interested in what I say about things.

  He cut me off sharply and told me in that authoritative, emphatic, overbearing manner that the changes are necessary and the GB has to move with the times, hardly letting me get a word in edgewise! It was like I'd pulled the string on one of those talking dolls. When he wound down, I told him the Bible is the truth and the Bible never changes, so why should the WT (and cited the July 2013 about the FDS) then out pours this stream, as if on autoplay, about the light getting brighter thus the GB's understanding of the scriptures needs to be constantly updated.

  Here I was talking to a teenage boy, but he had the manner, speech and trappings of an elder! I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I just assumed most JW kids weren't that into it, but this mini-elder had me scared for them.

  THIS is from the Jeremiah book? I thought it was this week's Puke-Tower. Funny you assume its genre based on its style of specious claptrap. I remember when the books read slightly differently to a wt.

  so "women make monkeys out of men" and the common courtesies of civilised society make a man "effeminate".....and that is enough to have a man barred from the kingdom.... (the kj version uses that word in 1 cor.6.9 but other translations apply it to homosexuality).

  mother's day is denounced as a scheme of satan to idolize one's mother at the expense of worship to god!.

  now it would be easy to dismiss this baloney as just a rant from jfr, but - this is not just an aside on the back page of a magazine or a small article in the "golden age"...no, it is a main study book and is a serious discussion of the prophetic book ezekiel chapt 13....this was the doctine of the time .. i woder how the 'sisters' reacted?

  Hey I'd put this on Facebook but I'd have to unfriend all the JWs...funny, this I a Jw publication but it can still get me into trouble! Only in Jw world. Even north Korea still studies the works of its founder so Jw land is more whack than the world's craziest dictatorship.
